Use Thuraya handset as a GSM with NON-Thuraya SIM card

Postby jkanthro » Thu Aug 20, 2009 3:44 pm

I have an older Thuraya hand phone. It has no colour and hasn't camera on it, is
ruggedly built. I bought it in approx 2006. I would like to know if the Thuraya SIM
card on my phone has expired? Is it possible to just put another normal GSM SIM (not
sat) into the Thuraya phone and for it to function as a regular cellphone. If so,
how do I do this? E.g. do I start by putting the GSM sim into the phone before
changing the settings on the the Thuraya handset...is this even possible? Please can
you guide me on the process of what to do to use the Thuraya handset as a GSM with
another sim card
eg like Virgin mobile for example.
thanks, Judy

Wind and Tim prepaid SIM card of Italian GSM provider works well also on Thuraya network.
